Heinrich Schafmeister

Heinrich Schafmeister was born in 1957 in the Ruhr area of western Germany. He studied acting at the Folkwang School in Essen, graduating in 1984. Since then, he’s always been at the sharp end of the business. A fixture in theatre, he guests at various playhouses and festivals, and tours around. He is involved in voice dubbing, acts in radio plays, directs for the cinema, makes his money from TV, and can be seen in film and TV series.

He made his cinema debut in Treffer, directed by Dominik Graf. Schafmeister also makes regular TV appearances. You may have seen him as Didi Denkelmann in Die Camper, as Manfred Höch in Wilsberg or as Karl Wolkenfuss in Wie erziehe ich meine Eltern? He became known to a wider audience through the film Comedian Harmonists, in which he played singer Erich A. Collin.

He has been a member of the Deutsche Filmakademie since 2005. He is also on the board of the Bundesverband Schauspiel (Federal Association of Acting).
